Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo was born in Malaysia in 1961 into a family of shoe makers. He made his first shoe at age 11, was educated in London, and became well known for his craftsmanship as a couture shoemaker in London for many years thereafter.  Tamara Mellon, accessories editor at English Vogue, partnered with Mr. Choo to start his ready-to-wear company in 1996 so his designs could be mass-produced and wholesaled throughout fashion capitals of the world.  The Jimmy Choo label continued to expand over the years, introducing handbags and small leather goods collections.

To this day, all Jimmy Choo shoes are handmade and have become sought-after by celebrities and fashionistas alike.  Often just referred to as “Jimmy’s”, they played a prominent role in HBO’s “Sex and the City” TV show and movie.  Mr. Choo is concentrating on Jimmy Choo Couture Footwear these days, and the Jimmy Choo brand continues to expand, hoping to open up to 50 retail stores by the end of 2008.  Designer-inspired handbags are a part of Jimmy Choo’s legacy.
